AfricaMaVal Workshop at the Mining Indaba on ‘Mobilizing public funds to promote investments into Africa’s strategic metal value chains’ February 08, 09:00 – 12:45

Want to find out how public funds and political/strategic support from the EU, the US and Africa can promote investments into strategic metals value-chain projects in Africa?

Join the AfricaMaVal workshop February 08, from 09:00 to 12:45 at Watershed, 17 Dock Rd, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town, 8002, which brings together the insights and voices of the European Commmission, the US State Department, the African Development Bank, the World Bank, EIT RawMaterials, KfW, AFD-Proparco, LGI Sustainable Innovation, the European Investment Bank and mining sector professionals to discuss how the joint efforts of political promotion and the guarantees of public funds could improve and strengthen investments into critical and strategic mineral/metal projects in Africa.

This workshop offers the opportunity to understand how major powers support investments into this field, and what role public funds could take, for instance through de-risking projects.

On the other hand, the event also allows for a dedicated view from the ground? How do beneficiaries view the support, what could be improved, and how can collaboration be optimized?

Why join?

  • Inputs of policy makers, public funds representatives and the mining industry as to how combine efforts to promote investments into strategic mineral/metal projects in Africa
  • Opportunity to interact with EU, US, AfDB and World Bank representatives, as well as with leading public funds and the mining industry
  • Opportunity to understand the complex interaction between politics, public funds and commercial credit

The event is a live workshop. Access is free of charge, but registration is required.
